Do People Get What They Deserve In Life | Rewards Follow Results?
Do people get what they deserve in Life? Do rewards follow results? What do you think?
How can we define what a person really deserves? There’s no manual which says if you do a particular thing that you will get a particular result or reward. Nothing seems entirely certain – even if you stand out in the rain for three hours you may or may not get a cold or muscular pain: even a result for an action like this has no certainty.
When I read that a British Prime Minister caught a cold which swiftly led to his death through standing in the rain at a coronation I decided to avoid a similar fate by simply never standing in the rain. Yet some years later I stood outside in a full downpour awaiting entry to the O2 stadium at Greenwich in London. I didn’t suffer any ill effects at all. Admittedly I had the good sense to be carrying an umbrella and wearing a rain jacket!
A slightly different slant is to ask the question “Do people get what they imagine they deserve in Life?” I guess the answer to that is NO, since I hear so many people grumbling about the results they achieve, and also moaning that someone who hurt them wasn’t punished. Why do you imagine this anyway?
Do rewards follow results? Every action has a reaction – every cause has an effect, but do these follow suit? No! Sometimes you will achieve one result and sometimes another. Perhaps that is what makes Life so exciting! It’s hard to be bored when you cannot be quite sure what reward you will receive for a result, nor what result you will get for an action! But how can we get good results more often than bad?
Can we be sure of unpredictability – I think so! So it makes sense to focus our efforts on creating results we can be relatively sure of! If you test an email list by sending out a message endorsing an excellent product and you receive a result of 1% of the people on the list making a purchase then you can either roll out the same message to more people on the same list or you can tweak the message to see if you can achieve a 2% purchase rate. But given this 1% result you can’t be certain of achieving the same result with another list.
Even with your result of 1% purchases you need to monitor the reward of that result – if 100% of the 1% ordering then go onto seek a refund you haven’t achieved a good reward for the good result! Look before you leap – carefully weigh the odds before taking any action in Life! Test things out before rolling out a mass marketing effort.
These days selling by mail order is much cheaper to test than when you had to rent a list of addresses of possible buyers and then mailed out sales letters to these people! Now you can send a quick email to prospects for free!
But the essentials of marketing practice has not changed since it is based on human nature. You are unlikely to get a good result mailing or emailing someone else’s list because it takes time and trust to turn people into prospects, then into buyers, and then into raving fans! You need to invite people to try something for free first.
If you have a great product and you give away free samples people will naturally want to know where they can purchase more – so although you may make an initial loss you will build a good buyer list fast. How to get good results? Give before you sell is a sound marketing maxim.
Associate your business with top quality products that solve problems fast and have a lot of feel good factor built in! This is a sound marketing maxim too!
Although we can never be 100% certain of the results we will attain or the rewards we will secure, we can take time to study likely outcomes and calculate the probability of taking action. Gradually over time we become so familiar with the ebb and flow of results for specific actions that we begin to feel intuitively how something will perform.
But be prepared for change and understand that no result will continue forever – no market will sustain forever. We have to constantly test and tweak and be ready to move on to new market opportunities.
I think it is a good thing that we can never be certain as to do people get what they deserve in Life – how many of us can be sure we have always done the right, the fair, the best thing in every situation? If I can forgive others then perhaps I too can be forgiven!
Do rewards follow results?
Well, yes, every result brings its own reward but whether good or bad depends on circumstances and what we might call chance. Observation of effect patterns over a long time can narrow the probability but we must always account for some random results.
How to get good results:
Choose to work for long term goals that will challenge you to become a greater human being! Become all that you can! Opportunities in your future will arise as a direct result of the actions you take today. If you neglect important daily steps then over time your results will decline.
Have you ever thought “If only I had been prepared for this!”? Well, we cannot always be prepared for the bad things that can happen unexpectedly, but we can minimize bad results by being very careful in our planning and carrying out our plans, and if we work always to produce good results for good reasons then we can be confident that a lot more good will result than bad!
And when good results from our plans and actions then we can be confident the rewards will be great!
